Stem Cells

Stem cells Introduction
Human body is a complex machine. It has some millions of cells, 206 bones, vital organs, complex nervous system, blood stream and what not. The cells work day in day out, die and get replenished so that new cells are formed. It is a continuous process of rejuvenation. When people sleep, the body organs get replenished, the liver gets detoxified, and all the body parts get fresh energy.

One would be amazed to know how the human body develops so rapidly as it goes through different processes right from conception to the birth of the child.
From a small embryo which can be seen only by a microscope to a 3 kg baby, it is an astonishingly great journey. The growth of human body, especially the various types of cells like blood cells, skin cells, tissues and organs is from the primary stem cells.
Human body is also susceptible to different types of diseases, and some diseases are caused due to malfunctioning stem cells. Before we understand stem cells, it needs to be mentioned that stem cell transplantation is going to potentially cure many diseases that ail the mankind. You will learn how they are so very important for us, and their potential therapies in detail in the subsequent sections.
